Common questions

Where do the scores come from?

From the official IPPT scoring tables published on the OneNS website, for push-ups, sit-ups and the 2.4 km run across every age group. Scores are for your information only; your official result is the one recorded at your IPPT session.

Is this an official MINDEF or SAF app?

No. IPPT Encik is an independent app. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with MINDEF, the SAF or any government agency.

Which age does the app use?

Your IPPT age goes up on your birthday, not on 1 January. If you enter your date of birth in Profile, the app works this out for you, and scores each logged test with your age on that test's date. You can also set your age by hand instead.

Why is my pass mark different from my friend's?

NSmen pass at 51 points. NSFs and Regulars need 61 points. Set your service status in Profile. The incentive amounts shown ($200, $300, $500) apply to NSmen only.

I am an SPF or SCDF NSman. Can I use the app?

Yes. In Profile, set your force to SPF or SCDF. The scoring tables, the 51-point pass mark and the incentive amounts are the same as for SAF NSmen. The difference is your IPPT window: for the Home Team it runs from 1 April to 31 March, not from birthday to birthday, and the app shows that window for you. MHA publishes these rules for NSmen only, so NSF and Regular are not available for SPF and SCDF.

I have a medical exemption from push-ups or sit-ups. How is my IPPT scored?

For SAF NSmen, open Medical exemption in Profile and choose the station you are exempt from. With one static station exempt (a 2-station IPPT), you pass at 39 points out of 75. With both static stations exempt (run only), you pass at 26 points out of 50. You still need at least 1 point in every station you take. MINDEF does not pay an incentive with an exemption, so the best award is Pass. Each logged test keeps the exemption it was taken with.

Are female scoring tables available?

No. The app uses the male scoring tables. Female tables are only added once they can be checked against an official source, and we have not found one yet.

How do I keep my results if I change phones?

Your results are stored on your phone. The easiest way to keep them is to turn on iCloud backup in Profile. The app then keeps a copy in your iCloud Drive (in Files, under iCloud Drive, then IPPT Encik) and updates it every time you log or change a result. On your new phone, sign in to the same Apple Account, install IPPT Encik and turn on iCloud backup in Profile. The app finds your backup and offers to restore it.

You can also do it by hand: in Profile, tap Export backup and save the file somewhere safe. On your new phone, tap Restore and pick that file. Either way, restoring only adds results; it never deletes any.

Is iCloud backup on by default?

No. It stays off until you turn it on in Profile. The backup goes to your own iCloud Drive, which only you can see; it is never sent to us. You can turn it off at any time, and delete the backup file in the Files app if you want it gone.

I bought Remove ads. How do I get it back on a new phone or after reinstalling?

Go to Profile and tap Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with. The ads turn off again at no extra charge.

Why does the app ask to track me?

The free version shows ads from Google. iOS asks whether you are happy for those ads to be tailored to you. Either answer works, and you still see ads either way. Your IPPT results are never shared. See the privacy policy for details.
