IPPT Encik

Privacy policy

The short version: your IPPT results, age and profile stay on your phone, unless you turn on iCloud backup, which keeps a copy in your own iCloud Drive. We never receive them. The app shows ads from Google, and if you buy Remove ads, the purchase is handled by RevenueCat.

IPPT Encik ("the app") is an IPPT score calculator and logbook for iPhone, made in Singapore. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server of ours that holds your results.

IPPT Encik is an independent app. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with MINDEF, the SAF or any government agency.

What stays on your phone

Everything you enter into IPPT Encik - your date of birth or age, force, service status, vocation, medical exemption setting, logged test results, notes and settings - is stored locally on your device, in the app's private storage.

We cannot see this data. It is never uploaded to us, and it is not shared with the ad or purchase services described below. The only time it leaves your phone is when you choose to back it up, as described next.

If you delete IPPT Encik, the data on your phone is removed with it. We have no copy and cannot recover it for you, which is why the app offers backups.

iCloud backup (optional, off by default)

In Profile you can turn on iCloud backup. While it is on, the app saves a backup file with your results and profile to your own iCloud Drive, in a folder named IPPT Encik that you can see in the Files app, and updates it whenever your results or profile change.

The file is stored by Apple in your iCloud account under Apple's own privacy policy and your iCloud settings. It goes to your account, not to us: we have no access to your iCloud Drive and never receive the file. If you turn iCloud backup off, the app stops updating the file; the last copy stays in your iCloud Drive until you delete it in the Files app.

Backup files you export yourself

IPPT Encik can also export your results and profile to a backup file. This happens only when you choose to do it.

When you export, iOS hands the file to you through the standard share sheet, and you decide where it goes - for example Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop or an email to yourself. Once you send it somewhere, that destination's own privacy policy applies to it. The app does not upload the file anywhere, and we never receive it.

Restoring a backup reads the file you pick and adds its results to the ones already on your phone.

Ads (Google AdMob)

The free version of IPPT Encik shows ads: a banner at the bottom of the screen, and occasionally a full-screen ad after you log a result. The ads are provided by Google AdMob.

To show and measure ads, Google's software in the app collects information about your device and how ads are used, such as:

None of your IPPT results, age, date of birth or other entries are given to Google.

Tracking is your choice. The first time the app shows ads, iOS asks whether IPPT Encik may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you allow it, Google can use your advertising identifier to show ads that are more relevant to you. If you ask the app not to track, the advertising identifier is not shared and you still see ads, just less tailored ones. You can change this any time in the iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

The app asks Google to keep ad content within the app's 18+ App Store age rating.

How Google uses this information is described in Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy and at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Remove ads purchase (RevenueCat)

You can remove the ads with a one-time in-app purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store; we never see your payment details or your Apple Account.

To confirm and restore the purchase, the app uses a service called RevenueCat. When you open the Remove ads screen, buy, or tap Restore purchase, the app sends RevenueCat:

The anonymous ID is not your name, email or Apple Account, and we do not link it to you. RevenueCat does not receive your IPPT results or profile. If you never open the Remove ads screen or tap Restore purchase, the app does not contact RevenueCat at all.

RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Other information

The App Store itself may collect information about downloads, purchases and crashes under Apple's own policies. That is between you and Apple.

If you email us, we will have your email address and whatever you choose to write to us. We use it only to reply to you and to improve the app. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Permissions

IPPT Encik asks for a permission only when it needs it: the tracking question described above, and access to Files when you export or restore a backup. iCloud backup uses the iCloud account already signed in on your phone and needs no extra permission. It does not request contacts, location services, camera, photos, microphone or Health data.

Deleting your data

Children

IPPT Encik is made for national servicemen and others preparing for the IPPT, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Security

Your results are held in your device's app-private storage and are protected by your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID and by iOS's own file protection. Your results are never sent to a server of ours, so there is nothing of ours holding them that could be breached. If you turn on iCloud backup, the copy in your iCloud Drive is protected by your Apple Account and Apple's iCloud security. The trade-off is that we cannot restore them for you if you lose your phone, so please keep a backup.

Not official scoring

Scores in IPPT Encik are calculated from the official IPPT scoring tables published on the OneNS website, for your information only. Your official result is the one recorded at your IPPT session.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and publish the revised version at this address.
